This blog started out as a chronicle of my life, something my friends and family could read to keep up with me, and a journal of sorts.

When I became pregnant with my daughter, Scarlett, this blog changed to a journal of that experience.

And when Scarlett was born, on July 20, 2010, this blog became mostly about her.

On February 23, 2012, Scarlett died in her sleep. She was 19 months old and perfectly healthy, and the doctors and coroners never found the cause of her death. On that day, this blog became about experiencing that deep grief and rising from it. This blog became beauty from ashes.

I have learned so much from this terrible loss, and I want others to take these lessons from me without having to go through the grief. That is my great hope in this blog -- to show people that no matter your circumstances, you can survive. Even thrive.

I found God shortly before Scarlett passed away, and since then He has held my hand, helped me breathe through the pain, and let me sleep at night when I thought I'd never sleep again. I know my daughter is waiting for me in heaven because of Jesus' sacrifice, and I can never express my thanks for that enough. So this blog is also an offering of thanks to God for His faithfulness, and Jesus for opening the path to heaven for my daughter.
